The founder of MobilePay, Danske Bank, has reached a partnership agreement with Verifone recently. It ensures that MobilePay can be used in payment terminals in most of the Nordic region, including Norway, Finland and Sweden. This might be a new milestone of MobilePay.
Since Verifone is the largest terminal provider in the Nordic countries, with 400,000 payment terminals installed and a market share of 60%. The new partnership means that shops with Verifone terminals can handle payments with MobilePay without purchasing new hardware in the box line. Moreover, it makes mobile payment easier as consumers can use the same terminal as they are accustomed to using the debit card.
The pilot test will start in November in Denmark while other countries are expected to be ready in the beginning of 2017.
