Øresund City, presented by the Swedish architecture firm Sweco, is a vision that would involve 3 artificial islands connecting Copenhagen and Malmö, and ultimately create a new European metropol.
The goal is to integrate the region of Øresund, but there are a few challenges when it comes down to it, says head architect of the project, Urban Skogsmar. “The biggest challenges are the political decisions between Denmark and Sweden, as well as the fauna and flora of Øresund waters.”, he says.
Skogsmar visualizes Øresund City as an ecological metropol. “Maybe we could build a new university” he says. Skogsmar is yet to know about the costs of the project, but is very excited to be apart of building a new city from scratch.
