“Since 2014, we have reduced our food waste by 10 percent,” Brian Seemann, director for Netto told the Copenhagen Post last week.

While it is no secret that Denmark is leading the fight against wasting food in Europe, Netto has become the first grocery chain in the country to disclose exactly how much they’ve contributed to the cause.

Last summer, Netto developed an app that they greatly attribute to their recent success, where users can view and purchase food that is about to go bad, for a discounted price.

According to the Danish Agriculture and Food Council, Denmark still has more initiatives against food waste than any other European country.
