At approximately 1:00 PM on Friday March 17, a fire broke out at Vesterbrogade 146.
Main streets in the Vesterbro neighborhood were cordoned off by police as smoke filled the area and residents at the complex were safely evacuated.
Crews fought the flames with a new compressed air foam system (CAFS) in order to minimize water damage.
Firefighters battled flames and a possible building collapse through Saturday evening in order to Crews protected the neighboring Black Horse building – the oldest structure in Vesterbro.
At press time, investigators were still unable to verify the cause of the fire that fueled flames of several meters in height. People at the scene in adjacent apartments said that they heard a large boom, which they thought to be caused by an electrical malfunction.
