Everyday 3.640 tonnes of food is thrown away in Hong Kong. Much of the food comes from buffet restaurants and bakeries, where there often are produced much more food than can be sold because it is better to throw food out than be sold out.

In Denmark, five guys created an app to fight the increasing food waste.

The app, ToGoodToGo lets people buy leftover food from buffet restaurants and bakeries. They pay half price, and then they pick the food up when stores are closing.

Since they began they’ve saved over 500.000 meals from ending in the dumpster.

In Denmark, the business is a success – and the company is has expanded to France and Germany. In 2017 they plan to expand to more countries.
