Danish Public Broadcaster DR Hires More Foreign Correspondents

Previously having 13 foreign correspondents, DR, now has a new dedicated spot for Africa and will have residence journalists in Turkey and Russia in 2018 for their daily international news on TV, radio, and the web.

Mr. Niels Kvale, an editor for the foreign desk of DR, says their action of having more correspondents contrasts to the global trend. He believes DR need first-hand information for important news.

“We should go there and talk to people,” he said, “that is how TV news works.”

In Hong Kong, most media relies on agencies for international news and only send reporters overseas during significant events.

DR is the public broadcaster of Denmark, a counterpart to RTHK in Hong Kong.
