After battling different illnesses, Prince Henrik of Denmark has died “peacefully in his sleep,” says Michael Ehrenreich, Lord Chamberlain in a press release from the Royal Danish House.

According to the press release, Prince Henrik died with Her Majesty the Queen and their two songs by his side. The Prince died after being hospitalized with penumonia. The Royal Danish House is currently keeping quiet about Prince Henrik’s cause of death. They aren’t releasing any further comments, says Frederik Nellemann Linde, a communications officer at the house.

The house released a press statement in September of 2017 stating a team if specialists at Rigshospitalet, a hospital located in Copenhagen, has “now concluded that his Royal Highness Prince Henrik suffers from dementia.”

The statement was released by Lene Balleby, director of communications at The Royal Danish House, and also says the diagnosis “implies a decline in the Prince’s cognitive functional level.”
