In the wake of the latest school shooting in the United States, President Donald Trump has made clear his support for the arming of teachers in schools, something that has not been accepted by many U.S citizens, as well sparking international debate once again.
Prime Minister to the Danish government, Lars Lokke Rasmussen, has said via Twitter that Trump needs to “respond to the request of your youngsters who demands gun control”.
Denmark has a much stricter control on guns and gun ownership than the U.S, with as little as 1.5% of violent crimes reported in Denmark involving a gun, compared to more than 30,000 deaths a year attributed to guns in the U.S.
Do not intend to interfere, but allow me to give a danish perspective: @realDonaldTrump, please, respond to the request of your youngsters who demands gun control. Don’t accept the world record in school shootings. Make America great and safe again! #FloridaSchoolShooting #dkpol

Rasmussen also urged the U.S not to “accept the world record in school shootings. Make America great and safe again!”.
