Majority of Copenhagen city council wants to test liberalization of cannabis

44 out of 55 in the Copenhagen city council want to test liberalizing Cannabis to oppose the illegal selling in Copenhagen. The Danish health minister turns down the proposal and says that the Danish governments can’t accept legalization.

Legalization of Cannabis is a hot topic in Europe and USA where several countries and cities already have legalized marijuana. The debate is by no means new in Copenhagen and was previously a topic ten years ago.

The politicians hope that the new Social Democrat government will allow Copenhagen to test the legalization of Cannabis.

“We got a new government and a much younger one, and I hope, that they will see things in a different light,” says Gyda Heding member of Enhedslisten, Copenhagen city council, to Ritzau.
