Copenhagen and Denmark especially are often portrayed as the most sustainable and environmentally friendly places in the world. The city wants to be co2 neutral until 2030. But sustainability is more than just bikes and regulations on carbon emissions.

“A sustainable transformation needs to think of the three aspects planet, people and profit”

In order for sustainability itself being a sustainable in the long term, it’s not enough to just focus on the environmental aspect. “A sustainable transformation needs to think of the three aspects planet, people and profit”, Ole Krogsgaard from Danish industries, one of Denmark’s business and employers organisations says.

For Krogsgaad sustainability will be a key competitive factor for business: “The world needs to react to climate change, if companies to that transformation early on, they are in a prime position later on”.

Beginning such a big transformation can seem scary and overestimating at first. Especially then it is very important, that business and polities follow a vision, even if it seems a bit too ambitious at the beginning. “It will create a momentum, that other companies can follow”, says Krogsgaard.
