According to Komsmopol Carlsberg who is selling Coca-Cola in Denmark is seeing a small drops in their sales of Coca-Cola in Denmark. The Coca-Cola being sold in Denmark is made in Fredericia in one of Carlsberg’s factories. This is a part of a broader trend where Danish consumers are consciously trying to avoid buying American products.

Lars H. a political activist

is critical of current events in the U.S. and believes consumer choices matter:

“Donald Trump has a lot of respect for power, every time there is pressure he gets weak in the knees and changes course. So of course it has a meaning I am sure of that. It may not matter much individually, but we must still speak with the voice we have.”

On the streets of Copenhagen many are aware of this trend. Sonbol Ashrafi, knows about this trend even though she will buy a Coca-Cola every now and then “I don’t believe one person can save the world but it is possible to save one’s own world and I feel better, so I get the strength to choose Jolly Cola over Coca-Cola.”

The trend is also visible in Sweden. Johanna Kratzer, from Malmö, says:

“It’s a big trend right now—people are boycotting companies that support Israel, especially in Malmö.”

She’s also concerned about developments in the U.S.:

“I’m very worried about the decreasing democratic rights for minorities, like the trans and LGBT+ communities. I have friends who were planning trips to New York, but now they’re hesitating or canceling.”
